Letter from the President

With 2011 at a close, the Cenla Derby Dames have many reasons to celebrate. The league has really come together in the past year, which has resulted in great successes for our team. We played our first full season, had our first win, and held our first recruitment clinic. We have a roster of 14 active, bout-ready skaters who work hard and train several times a week; and another 15 “fresh meat” skaters training and getting ready to play soon. We’re fortunate to have a strong team of coaches, referees, and other officials as well. But most of all, we’re fortunate for the support of the community and of our family and friends.

But the Dames aren’t only about roller derby. We try to give back to the community that gives so much to us. In 2011, we raised funds and volunteered for several important causes, including The Humane Society of Central Louisiana, Hope House of Central Louisiana, Susan G. Komen, The Food Bank of Central Louisiana, and the Muscular Dystrophy Association. Our team members are always willing to lend a hand.

With so many things to celebrate during the 2011 season, we eagerly look forward to 2012 as a year to grow and prosper even more. We ended our first full season with a record of 4-6. We’re training harder than ever and expect to better our record next season. Will 2012 be the year that you become a part of our team as a sponsor, skater, ref, or volunteer? Because being a Derby Dame is much more than knowing how to skate. We are a family. We have fun. We’re there for each other. And we can’t wait to welcome some new people to our team in 2012!

XOXO,
Misfit Missy
President of CDD
